Happy New Year to all of you from the Brightmile team. I hope you had a great holiday season and have hit the ground running in 2019.
The team and I are busy preparing for the year ahead. 2019 feels like a significant one in our development and we know that we will only achieve our goals as a company if we meet the needs of our customers. That means one thing: making the roads safer.
The festive season is a joyous time, but it’s also one of increased accidents and fatalities on our roads. Collision rates spike during the cold, wet, dark months and safety becomes more important than ever.
This brings our mission sharply into focus. At Brightmile, we care deeply about getting drivers safely from A to B. That’s why we do what we do.
But we have our work cut out. We know that 1.25 million drivers each year worldwide fail to make it home to their families at the end of the day. And that the vast majority of these fatalities are preventable. For example, we know that more than 300,000 of these accidents are caused by distracted drivers on their smartphones.
These statistics make for depressing reading and with approximately 40% of collisions being work-related, it’s easy to see how driving has become a huge risk for many companies today. Managing and reducing that risk is a constant challenge, however big or small the business or the fleet.
That’s why we’re on a mission to make driver risk management smarter and easier. With support from AXA, we are striving to make a real difference to road safety. Accidents aren’t tolerated in any other part of business, so let’s work together to eliminate them on the roads too.
Our 3 core business aims for the coming 12 months:
Reduce collisions and, ultimately, save lives
Help instil a zero accident driving culture in our customers and have a lasting and sustainable impact.
Drive a material impact on our customers’ bottom line with savings across insurance, uninsured losses, downtime, repairs, maintenance and fuel.
These are the reasons we all returned to work this January fired up and ready to make 2019 a significant year for us as a business — and for our customers.
In addition to the aims above, we are also resolving to actively engage with our customers on a more regular basis. That’s why you’ll be hearing a lot more from me and the team as we launch a regular blog, a monthly newsletter and increased social activity.
We also want these conversations to be two-way. We’re going to be writing about a wide range of issues in transportation, business and technology and we’d like to hear what you think about the topics we’re discussing.
